Gratitude – Day 39 (Productivity)

This past weekend was a whirlwind of productivity. Seems we turned into machines this weekend.

  • We removed all of the furniture from the bedroom, painted the bedroom, (2 colors, 3 coats), hung new curtains, reassembled the bedroom.
  • We got rid of a bunch more stuff; a computer was delivered to Mark and a truckload of items were delivered to Maureen’s for the annual yard sale for the Peruvian women fundraiser.
  • Stickers were created, cut, and applied to the prototype game cards for “The Earth Shook”.
  • Kathy and I are now production on the two laptops we have for our own use.
  • We started the refresh process and loading two laptops with software for Teri and Bonnie.
  • We booked the first road hockey event for the season.
  • Paid the registration for PrairieCON in Brandon.
  • Disassembled the terrain for “Check Your 6!” and created the terrain needed for a month of “The Earth Shook” in the games room.
  • Worked on some newsletter ideas for SaskGames.

All of this was at a comfortable pace and Kathy & I managed to have time for a nice dinner at Bavarian Forest, shopping for a ceiling fan / light, shopping for a bed, pick up our wines at the Willow, and go for a walk in Wascana Park. Getting stuff down does not mean you have to sacrifice enjoying yourself. It was a very enjoyable weekend and it continues on a theme of getting our place in order and getting rid of excess “stuff”.

I have noticed that since I have embarked on this journey of Reflection-Action-Gratitude that I am much more focused and productive as a side effect. I feel I have always had a certain focused approach, but this is becoming reflexive. Very interesting.

I am grateful for this new level of focus and productivity. I feel like I can accomplish more without additional effort and without sacrificing or compromising my work-life balance. This is a journey that continues to surprise me by yielding benefits and positive side-effects. Now excuse me, I must prepare to go and vote today.

Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort. ~ Paul J Meyer
