Gratitude – Day 58 (Juggling)

No. Not juggling, juggling. Juggling priorities. Normally, I like things a little less hectic, but we seem to be at a crossroads where lots of  details are converging and are vying for our time & attention. Granted, some of these are recreational items so I am not complaining. In June, for instance, we need to repair or replace our furnace and central air conditioning. We also are replacing the fence in the backyard in a couple of weeks. Property tax is due, vehicle insurance is due, there is a gaming convention in Brandon, Manitoba, finish configuring Bonnie’s laptop, finish configuring Teri’s laptop, refresh the networking technology at home, continue growing the SaskGames initiative. June is busy. The next few months are quite full as well. We need to start firming up plans for a couple of canoe trips, a visit back to the Maritimes, look at getting Teri settled at Olds Alberta for her Veterinary Tech course , a backpacking trip in the mountains, a trip state-side with Krystal, continue cleaning out the house and pairing down our possessions, etc.

Normally, I get a bit anxious when I have a lot on the home plate. I think Kathy and I have hit a good stride and are making headway on all of our projects. We established a good rhythm of productivity earlier this spring and are keeping up the momentum. I am a little concerned with the financial hit we are taking in June. Too damn much happening in one month sure taps into the reserves.

I am certain that the reflection and blogging on a daily basis is helping me keep grounded and focused. It really goes to show how important perspective is on reaction to life’s challenges and uncertainties. I really do not miss the anxiety that would normally accompany a number of big projects. Funny how I have been very comfortable managing large work projects in my professional life with out batting an eye, but a roster of home projects gets under my skin. I guess I attribute that to wanting to shut off that part of my existence at home and simply kick back and relax. Probably all just a balance and perception issue.

Here’s to staying focused and grounded. I appreciate the additional clarity that has come to roost.

Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to work.~ H.L. Hunt
