Gratitude – Day 37 (Pistol Shooting)

My timing once again amuses me. This entry is hot on the heels of my entry of gratitude for peace time. Funny.

In the last 6 months I have been able to go pistol shooting twice, once in Las Vegas, and once last night in Regina at the Wascana Pistol Club. I enjoy target shooting. I certainly do not need another hobby, so this is one of those things I will occasionally enjoy. Last night, I went with a group from Kathy’s work. Monica organized the outing and it was a hoot. I guess it doesn’t hurt that I have a bit of an eye for target shooting. I am not going to win any awards, but I have a pretty decent shot pattern. Kathy enjoys hooting and is a good shot as well so it is something we can do together. We shot .22 caliber hand guns last night at targets 20 metres. Apparently, they have 9mm public shoots. All of the shoots are sub 1000fps as that is the rating of the range. Still, 9mm would be fun. This is something to keep in mind when folks come to visit. What to do tonight? I dunno, what shoot guns? Sure. Yeehaw!

There is so much to see and do wherever you live. It is fun to get out and experience some of the fringe activities and hobbies available in your own back yard. Thanks to Monica for organizing this. It was an enjoyable evening. I am grateful for the opportunity and zest to explore new activities. Pistol shooting is very enjoyable and I think we will try to go the the pistol club once in awhile.

Oh yea, Shotguns & Rifles are fun too! 🙂

Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout “Bang!” ~ George Will
